Product Description An aluminum oxide Stikit dust free disc roll constructed on a C weight, intermediate paper backing. Long life. Load resistant. Convenient disc roll form. Excellent for sanding on whitewood, primer, paint, sealers, topcoats, fiberglass and plastics. Works well where a heavier, more durable paper backing is required. Open coat type. Gold color. 5" Diameter. P400 Grade. Durable. 5 Holes. Maximum speed: 12000 rpm. From the Manufacturer The 3M™ Stikit™ Paper Dust-Free Disc Roll 236U is designed for convenience, combining 5-hole dust-free aluminum oxide discs with a handy adhesive backing ready for quick and easy attachment to a Stikit backup pad (sold separately). The disc roll makes the discs easy to grab while eliminating the use of plastic disc liners. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, the discs feature long-lasting aluminum oxide abrasive grains, a strong C-weight paper backing that resists tearing during aggressive sanding, an open coat, and load-resistant coating. Aggressive cut and long life make this product desirable for high production operations as well as general sanding and finishing applications on a variety of substrates, including paint, primer, wood, metal, plastic, and composites, including fiberglass. Stikit discs are designed to handle a wide range of sanding and finishing needs. These high-quality, coated abrasive products come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backside so they conveniently press on to the backup pad, and remove cleanly, leaving an uncontaminated surface for the next disc. A Stikit disc should be used in conjunction with a Stikit backup pad (also called a disc pad and sold separately) that is attached to a disc sander, random orbital sander, or stationary disc sander. The 5-hole pattern dust-management system works with a self-generated vacuum or central-vacuum-ready sander and uses a series of evenly-spaced holes aligned with the abrasive, disc pad, and vacuum vent. The holes help eliminate airborne dust as well as debris on the workpiece, for improved working conditions and increased productivity. Stikit 236U discs also feature a load-resistant coating that allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the surface of the disc and hinder sanding ability. Loading is further reduced by an open coat, which means the abrasive grains are spaced slightly apart so that dust can escape rather than obstructing the cutting edge of the grains, thereby optimizing cut-rate and disc life.Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use, whereas traditional abrasives such as garnet quickly wear down with use. Due to their fast cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, they are widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. For more than a century, 3M has applied innovation and technology to improving our customers’ lives and supporting their business goals. Today the company, from its headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, serves industrial and commercial customers and consumers in nearly 200 countries. Abrasive Systems products, including a complete line of coated abrasives, microfinishing and microreplicated abrasives, and hardware accessories, provide the finishing touch for almost any surface conditioning application. The 3M brand, across thousands of products, represents consistency, superior quality, and value.
